New work is the ideal – but coming up with the ideas is really where it’s at.

The creation of new work is sometimes just the last stop along a journey of mistakes, or the beginning of new concepts that finally coalesce into something exciting, different, and innovative.

Not everything works, that’s a given, but finding new avenues to explore is really more about persistence, confidence, and learning to rely on your instincts.

And that’s not easy, for any artist.

So, I thought I’d share some of my latest works where I’m really trying to explore new ideas.

With some, I see the innovation and a new direction.  With others, I see my overarching style and love of repeated patterns shining through.

The main thing is that I’m working, thinking, stitching, and creating – and that’s all I can ask of myself.

I love to embroider and work on it every day.  I love to read embroidery books and talk with others about embroidery, process, colour, and materials.

But at the end of the day, embroidery is a personal development – it’s our interpretation of self-expression using a simple needle and thread.

Read into it what you will, all I know is that daily stitching and designing keep me going, giving me purpose each and every day.

Enjoy my new work and share yours with others.
