Well, just a few more sleeps till Christmas and hopefully, we can look forward to a sparkling, fresh, brand-new year.

A perfect time to relax, revive and renew.

But also a time to reflect, reveal and ruminate about the year ahead.

You know, I think it’s a healthy strategy to sometimes take a break, and step back for a few days or even a week or more – however much time is right for you.

Just to think and to dream and to plan.

Do something completely different, or do nothing at all.

Binge-watch RomComs or just relax in the sunshine – your inner creative spark will tell you when it’s time to return to work.

You’ll feel refreshed and renewed, or should do, making the year ahead an adventure to look forward to rather than just same-old, same-old.

It’s also a great time to have a studio clean-up and to make a list of items to be serviced, ordered, replenished, and re-stocked, so that each time you go to work, everything is at hand and ready to go.

Best of all, having some time off, often triggers hidden ideas, the genesis of new work.  What better way to begin the year ahead?

So, from my humble workroom to your studio, I send my warmest regards for a very happy and safe Christmas and a wonderful new year.

Thank you for staying with me through my thoughts and ideas in these blog posts.  Everything I write is as I do – and sometimes, just by writing, I do it better or better understand the concept I’m trying to convey.

But what’s really special, is the sharing.  I love to receive your feedback via my artist Facebook page, Cathy Jack Coupland, so reach out if you haven’t done so already.  I always reply.

May your year ahead be filled with accomplishment, proficiency, potential, and experience.

And full of the joy of making and using textiles to create.

Sincerely yours,
